Sunshine & Shades

The warm weather is finally sort of here! It comes and goes, quickly changing & always keeping us on our toes! But we've had some nice, sunny days this week which means more time outside finally!
Greyson loves rocking his "suns" and definitely has more pairs of sunglasses than I do!
I recently got a job as a barista at a local coffee shop! So I get to make delicious drinks & work with some pretty awesome people! And of course bring home a coffee sometimes! Iced white mochas are one of my favorite drinks (usually with a few extra shots ha) & they're just perfect for this warming weather!
Oh and our grass is finally settling in and rooting to the ground! We had sod laid just 2.5 weeks ago & we had to keep off of it as much as possible, especially the dogs. But since it has rooted pretty well now, we can play outside. Dexter is probably the most excited about being able to play in the grass! He's a nut for the sunshine & chasing balls!
Greyson is obsessed with cars these days, something he gets from his car loving daddy I'm sure! He gets excited anytime we go in the car & he sometimes gets to sit in the driver seat & "drive." Can't wait until he's a little older to get him a motorized car he can actually drive instead of one he has to Flinstome around!
We're loving the warmer weather & getting even more excited for legit summer weather that is hopefully right around the corner! We are planning on taking advantage of the nice weekend weather with our first trip to the zoo of the season!

Happy Memorial Day

4:17 PM Amanda Greathouse 1 Comments

Happy Memorial Day everyone! It's such an important day to remember those courageous men and women who have given everything for our freedoms!

We kicked off our long weekend with a call from daycare Thursday morning informing us that Greyson had a 101+ temperature and needed to go home. Poor little guy was miserable!
We spent days cuddling at home with lots of books & blankets! He kept spiking fevers of like 103, even with Tylenol. Finally we called it on Saturday and spent 5 hours in the ER to find that he had an ear infection in his right ear. So we got some antibiotics & pain relief ear drops, which have already made him feel so much better!
We spent most of our weekend at home thanks to ear infections, rain & tornado warnings! Greyson also got his first experience with a Popsicle! He wasn't eating or drinking much & with the fevers, it seemed like a good way to get him some fluids and cool him down. He was unsure of it & just kept licking it with his tongue for a solid 10 minutes before he found out he could bite pieces off.
Eventually he was feeling better & decided his animal toys container looked better on his head! We even made a Target run & ended up with an espresso machine & an adorable little mason jar mug that I may have let Greyson grab off the shelf without stopping him!
And we were able to spend some time over at some new friends' house. They have a little boy Greyson's age so it was nice for us to have some friends here for all 3 of us to chat or play with!

I hope you had a good weekend & took some time amongst the fun to be thankful to those who gave it all for us to be able to have that fun! And I hope your week is off to a good start!

Greyson - 2 Year Update

5:08 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

So I realized that I never compiled a post about Greyson around his 2nd birthday! I'm finally getting around to it 3 months late!
Age: 2 years & 3 months
Weight: 27 lbs
Height: 34 3/4 inches
Clothes: pretty much in a solid 2T. If the brand runs a little small, he can get away with a 3T. His pants are slowly becoming a little short, so good thing it's almost time to rock shorts all the time! He's in size 6 shoes, but we need to start getting some 7s since I'm convinced he will wake up tomorrow & won't fit the 6s!
Favorite foods: He loves all fruits anytime of the day! He always wants peanut butter & yogurt as well. He is super picky these days, but he will almost always chow on some burritos, spaghetti, pizza and any type of bread! He won't eat a lot of meat or veggies, but hoping that changes soon & he starts eating what we're offering.
Words: He says so many words & phrases these days! Something new everyday! Recent favorites have been singing the ABCs & Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He also likes to say "what is the deal?" Or "what does it mean!"
Activities: he loves being outside! He is learning how to catch & throw balls and anytime we are walking somewhere he wants to race, though it usually only lasts about 5 steps! He pretends he is on a phone all day long & wants to copy more & more of what we do. Putting on & changing hats is a new favorite of his so I foresee some dress up clothes in his future!
Favorite Things: he loves his accessories - sunglasses, hats, headphone, backpack! He is really into shoes too! He likes saying "mommy, daddy" and having us say "Greyson" back to him, as well as pointing everyone out in our picture frames. He also requests to call Terra, Nana & daddy everyday to and from school!
Signature moves: putting his sunglasses on, stopping, taking them off & setting them down & putting them back on over & over. Breaking out into dance! Swiping cell phones like a ninja

It amazes me how quickly kids grow up! A week goes by and he is like a whole new kid! I don't think it'll ever stop blowing my mind! But for now, I will love on our little growing smarty pants & enjoy this super fun age!

Happy weekend!

House Update

4:16 PM Amanda Greathouse 1 Comments

We've been in our house now for almost 4 weeks and things are finally starting to look settled! The downstairs is the most in place these days, with the exception of most decorations.
We have so much cupboard space in our new house so I can have stuff on the counters without it feeling completely over crowded. I keep shifting things around, but I'd say the kitchen it pretty close to good! It'll get some spice soon!
Our dining room table is finally being used now that Greyson agrees to sit at it with us (occasionally). A small try with a candle warmer & nature-y filled vase, and even a small chalkboard that fun little things can be added to.
And of course my house wouldn't be complete without a coffee bar! It's far from complete or even situated like I imagine, but it's functional & right now, that's what matters! Both the table and coffee bar are second hand and the person we got them from painted them - like regular paint with a rolling brush paint. So we have plans to give them a matching makeover soon!
Our downstairs area is bright & open - exactly what we were hoping for. We are loving having carpet compared to our all wood, tile floors that were hard & cold. I am trying to figure out a coffee table for this space and we are contemplating replacing the brown couch with a sectional, hopefully matching the blue couch a little more. And of course I am planning on new throw pillows. Ours are just warn out & getting flat these days.
Side notes: curtains are expensive, hence why we only have one. And I still hate looking at our ruined tv stand. Ugh
Greyson loves sitting at his new little table. He sits at it and does his "work." It's adorable!
And I'm needing a way to organize the million toddler toys hanging around everywhere. Possibly a sofa table behind the blue couch with some cute storage baskets?
Outside is looking a little more welcoming! I had to make a quick-thinking hack in order to contain the toddler who is able to unlock our front door! It's not the cutest, but it works! I'm wanting to add a screen door of sorts to the front to allow for a window and bring in some fresh air with the summer (hopefully) heading our way.
But I like the chairs on the front porch to be able to sit and enjoy some coffee. And the wreath I just made the other day! It's simple, but I like the earthy, personalized touch with the "G." I like to think its inviting!
So that's a short tour of our house so far! Not perfect (yet), but it's coming around and will be soon!
And of course some pictures of Greyson! Mr. Sunglasses Lover! Ah a boy after my own heart!

Happy Mothers Day!

11:44 AM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

Happy mothers Day to all the mommies out there!
Mothers are the strongest, smartest, most-caring, selfless, hard-working, loving beings!
I have some of the best mommy role models in my life & I strive each day to be better than the day before. To listen more to what Greyson is saying. To ignore the dishes to play with plastic animals. To drag out bedtime an extra 10 minutes to read more books. To leave early to pick him up from daycare when I can, just to have more time to watch him play.
I got to spend my day with the 2 guys who mean the most, both making me feel like I'm a rockstar mom! We got to get Starbucks and grab some stuff we needed from some stores, one which was the pet store & Greyson is crazy about the fishes & birds.
My lovely husband surprised me with beautiful yellow roses! I teased him because yellow roses typically are for friendship, even though I know he got them since yellow is my favorite color! They're so bright & cheery in my kitchen for sure!
We enjoyed a low-key dinner with some takeout Chinese food. And had a special Mother's Day treat by meeting up with some new friends, who have a son Greys age, for some frozen yogurt! Greyson liked having a tiny friend to wreck havoc with & of course sharing strawberry & cheesecake frozen yogurt with mom and dad!

At one point in the day, I found myself sitting outside with some wine & quiet. I couldn't help but dwell on the thing missing this year - the babies I should have on the way. With 2 losses in the last 5 months, it's been rough to keep my chin up. It's a confusing, heart-breaking, frustrating, sad, anger-filled.. I'm trying desperately to hold onto hope that the future has blessings in our future.
I took some extra time to hold onto Greyson and realize that I am still his mommy, even if I haven't been given the chance again yet. He still needs me & in so many ways, I need him too. So my heart is with all those out there who have experienced loss(es), whether they have a little one already or still waiting to be blessed with one. I know the pain & wish none of us had to experience that, but I have hope that the future holds great things for everyone!

So going to start this week on a new foot! Happy Monday all!

It's The Little Things//Cinco de Mayo!

2:59 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

We had a very rainy Cinco de Mayo over here! Like flash flood warnings amounts of rain!
It spoiled any hopes of mine of a festive outdoor Mexican-filled dinner. So we went for a low key indoor night.

Greyson got a little felt burrito play toy & it was a fun day to show him how to assemble yummy burritos! He stuffed all the pieces in & pretended to eat it! Clearly he was hungry & craving delicious Mexican food!
Obviously cinco de mayo calls for margaritas! And Greyson always thinks my margarita is juice & wants some, I decided to make him his own! I added some ice, orange juice and a splash of strawberry mix in the blender for a smoothie/virgin margarita!
And when begins daddy for some, he eventually conceded and drank his own! He felt like such a big boy getting his own fancy drink! Special little treats always make his day!
It was such a cute Mexican food and margarita-filled days! Ah I sort of wish cinco de mayo happened more than once a year!
