It's The Little Things// Big Brother Prep

12:42 PM Amanda Greathouse 3 Comments

Mister Greyson is already prepping to be a big brother! We still have quite some time to go, but Grey is already taking an interest in babies & the gear that comes along with them!
I bought a pregnancy pillow recently & Greyson has been obsessed with jumping over it & then relaxing to read his books all cuddled on it!

My mom brought Greyson a little baby doll when she came to visit & he is doing so great taking care of & comforting the baby. During bedtime one night, he climbed out of bed & said "Oh no! My baby! Baby's crying! You okay baby?!" and preceeded to comfort the baby doll! It was adorable.

He heard a baby crying at the zoo a couple weeks ago & was very concerned, asking if the baby is okay! The group with the baby was walking near us & Grey kept saying things like "You see da elephant baby?" and "Oh bears! You like the bears baby?"
And as soon as he sees the Big Brother shirt we bought him, he insists on wearing it & never wants to take it off! I just know he's going to be a great big brother!

Summer Bucket List// Visit a Waterfall

11:32 AM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

So I had to make another little change to our Summer Bucket List again! I had visit Pikes Peak on the list of things to do, but my doctor advised me to not do any physical activity over 10,000 ft and to not go much higher than that at all. Well, Pikes Peak's summit it over 14,000 ft. which means I am not able to go to the top for now.

So I altered the plans & decided to go see some of the beautiful natural scenery that Colorado Springs has to offer! While my parents were here, we went to see Helen Hunt Falls & Seven Falls, both beautiful parks with amazing waterfalls.

Helen Hunt Falls
We visited Helen Hunt Falls first! I almost didn't take Greyson since I'd never been there, but Greg went with him mom a few weeks ago & said he would do great so I decided to chance it. So glad I did because he did awesome!

Seven Falls
Second was Seven Falls. It was closed for awhile recently due to wildfires destroying the area. But the Broadmoor Hotel here bought it & restored it to its old beauty. They installed an elevator in the mountain to take you to the top or there's stairs that head up the sides to get you there as well. With Greyson, we chose to ride the elevator & see the falls from the top!
They even have a trout stream & fish food you can buy to feed the fish. We grabbed some & let Greyson try to feed the trout. They weren't really out & about while we were there, but he loved throwing the food & yelling for the fish to come eat.

The two places were pretty different yet both beautiful! They should definitely be a go-to place for anyone who visits Colorado Springs! I want to plan to go back again and maybe tackle those steps to the top & go even further up Helen Hunt Falls!

Here We Go Again

7:25 PM Amanda Greathouse 2 Comments

It's about time to let out the secret we've been keeping for awhile now...

Yep! Another February baby! This one is due at the end of the month & if he/she comes late like big brother did, we will have a March baby on our hands! It's going to be a crazy, busy, birthday filled 2 months for us with both mine & Greyson's birthdays already in February & Greg's in mid-March! But we are beyond excited regardless of the chaos heading our way!

And the very first belly picture!

How far along: 13 weeks [in the picture, 13.5 now!]
Gender: Won't find out until our 20 week ultrasound, but definitely excited to know!
Weight gain: About 1.5 lbs, although it feels like so much more!
Maternity clothes: I bought a new pair of maternity leggings that I'm already in love with & wear all the time! I'll wear a few shirts here & there, but mostly just my normal clothes still
Stretch marks: Hoping for none again this round!
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: Eh! I broke down & bought a pregnancy pillow the other day to help! I can't seem to get or stay comfortable & it's helping a lot most nights
Best moment this week: Doctor's appointment yesterday & getting to hear the little baby's heartbeat! So reassuring!
Worst moment this week: Every morning! I'm still nauseous every morning before work so I end up feeling terrible all morning. Ready for it to be over
Miss anything: Strawberry margaritas! And my appetite honestly! I haven't really wanted to eat much of anything lately & my energy! It's like I'm 80!
Movement: Nothing yet. I've heard you are more likely to feel movement sooner the second time around, so hoping for it soon!
Cravings: My appetite is slowly coming back. Fruit is something I'm loving no matter how I feel & I have a sweet tooth quite often. And oddly enough Arby's roast beef sandwiches & their curly fries drenched with Arby's sauce! ha
Queasy or sick: Yep! Every morning still! Not so fun! Doctor said most women are over it by 10 weeks & if not, then by 14 weeks so fingers crossed it's over sooon!
Looking forward to: Cool weather with Fall on the horizon & finding out the gender! Already have a names list started & ideas gathered for nursery ideas!

That's the first update! So excited for everything to come & definitely plan on sharing! This is part of the "life" that's happened lately & kept me busy & tired! But that's getting better too so I should have more time & energy to do all the blogging I've had on the back burner!
Happy Hump Day [Bump Day]!

Summer Bucket List// Drive-In Movie

10:43 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

So thanks to life, I ended up changing our intended Summer Bucket list a little bit. I had originally planned to go camping, but with too little time & Greg hurting his ankle making walking & such difficult, it didn't seem like a good idea anymore.
I'd been wanting to take Greyson to see a movie & with the Minion Movie coming out this summer, it was almost too perfect! This guy is obsessed with the Minions! I grew up going to the Drive-In every summer so when I found one close by, we made plans & headed out on a Saturday night for Greyson's first movie at the drive-in.
We stopped at Target on the way & I spotted this cute Minion face baseball tee & of course Grey needed it! You can't watch Minions without a matching shirt! He was so excited when we got it on him & he had a giant smile nonstop, pointing to his shirt yelling "It's da Minion!"
We took lots of blankets & a few chairs to sit in, but mine ended up breaking since it was an older, cheap chair. So we moved into the back of the SUV with our warm blankets & yummy movie snacks. Greyson got to run around a little bit & make silly faces with other kids.
No drive-in is complete without playing with daddy! And naturally we snuck in a little treat - Peanut Butter M&Ms! His face when we shared them with him was priceless!
It was a fun night for all of us! Greyson hung out & watched most of the movie with us. His favorite parts were the ones with the Minions running around being silly! He had a short time where he was so tired & just wanted to run around, but we eventually lured him back in to cuddle & sit. No surprise he passed out 5 minutes into the drive home!
Definitely plan to go again next year!

Summer Bucket List// The Zoo

2:10 PM Amanda Greathouse 1 Comments

Part of our Summer Bucket List this year was to go to the zoo! We've already been to the zoo but we loved it so much & there was some parts we didn't get to see or experience so another trip was still fun! We took my mother in law while she was here recently.
We ended up getting some lettuce at the giraffe exhibit so we could feed them this time! It was pretty busy last time so we skipped it so it was fun to do it this time. The giraffes love people & their tongues are so long & strong! Greyson tried it a few times but the giraffes are big & in your face so he got a little shy!

Even though he didn't love feeding them, they came up pretty close still and Grey stuck his arm through the poles. He got so excited & was telling us "I'm touching him!" It was so cute!

And this time the Australia area of the zoo was open. The wallabies roam the area freely so you can walk right up to them & if you're brave, pet them. Grey took the route of a ride on daddy's shoulders but it was still fun to see some new animals.

Grey has an obsession with hippos too! He had a strong grasp on the bars & was trying to pull himself into the exhibit. He really wanted to go swimming with the hippo in his little pool & he was disappointed when we wouldn't throw him in!

All in all, it was a long, but good day! We love the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo so much & plan to keep going back during different seasons and events.
We're a little behind on our summer bucket list due to busy schedules but with a few more weeks, we're hoping to be able to knock as much of the rest of it out.

Life Lately// iPhone edition

8:44 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

Man has life gotten the best of me lately! With working more, a 4-week intensive summer class & Greyson's change to requiring us to sit with him for no less than an hour reading books & performing endless charades before finally falling asleep, I've been exhausted by the end of the day. And honestly haven't taken the time to share anything we've been up to.
So here is a little photo dump from my phone that chronicles a little bit of our happenings lately!
We bought a little inflatable pool that Grey is obsessed with & has started laying on the side like a goober!
Cool days call for Where The Wild Things Are hoodies! And stealing moms rice cakes! Greyson is obsessed with having his picture taken - I'm sure it's not because he's used to it being taken soo often - and wants to "take a pit-cher" anytime he sees my phone!
We had a lovely time hanging with our neighbors a few weekends ago! We had delicious food & played some corn hole while the kiddos played on their trampoline & inflatable bouncy house. And of course no summer get together is complete without s'mores & sparklers! We tried the plastic cup trick to protect the kids' hands from the sparklers & it really did work well. Greyson was crazy amazed by them, having never seen them before let alone held one. It's so fun to see the excitement of little things in your child's eyes.
We finally got around to hanging out second set of curtains in our living room & since Daddy was using a drill, Greyson had to as well. He even helped & drilled the window a bit. And he learned the joys of a good couch pillow fort! He would hide & pop out at us very proud of himself.
My parents visited recently & we did some exploring, including seeing Helen Hunt Falls. This guy is crazy brave & was thisclose to giving me a heart attack with his gung-ho attitude & wanting to climb on everything.
And we re-visited the zoo again! Greyson loves the giraffes so much he was trying to shove his face in their exhibit & was calling for them. I even heard him screaming "giraffes! I love you!!!" at them. And rode on a carousel for the very first time. He wasn't sure if it at first, but as you can tell from his faced he warmed up to it quickly & was saying "woo! Horsey go up!"

There's a little of what we've been up to recently. I have a ton more to share & plan hope to get around to it this weekend!

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start!
