Boy or Girl?! // Old Wiives Tales

3:59 PM Amanda Greathouse 1 Comments

With our anatomy scan coming up tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of the common wives' tales regarding gender of the baby. I have feelings towards both genders so I don't have a definitive guess myself, but I'm curious to see what anyone thinks about what we're having!

                         Morning Sickness:                    Yes    No
                          Heartbeat:                             High     Low
                         Cravings:                            Sweets   Salty
                         Sleeping Side:                       Right   Left
Appearance:           Less than normal    Better than normal
                         Clumsy or Graceful:           Graceful     Clumsy
                          Frequent Mood:                   Moody     Pleasant
                          Chinese Gender Calendar:       Girl      Boy
                           Headaches:                        Normal     More Often
There is it! The wives' tales point more toward a girl but they obviously aren't always right!
I can't wait to know & share the news!

Share your vote with me & see if you were right very soon!

It's The Little Things// Parent Day at School

2:54 PM Amanda Greathouse 1 Comments

So the CDC does a Parent Involvement Day every month for the kids. The parents are invited to do some activity with them & just spend time in their school environment. I've only been to a few just because I sometimes do not find out about them until it's too late & end up having to work during it.

But this month, I found out early & was able to request to work in the morning so I was off with plenty of time to go hang out with my little guy! Cookies, apple cider & a pumpkin hunt! They had me at the cider!

So the kids & parents enjoyed some cookies with apple cider for their snack time. Greyson chose chocolate chip but spent the whole time licking off the homemade cream cheese frosting instead of eating the cookie.
And after snack, everyone headed outside to the playground where the teachers & staff had scattered a bunch of little pumpkins all over for the kids to pick out. Everyone was allowed 2 pumpkins & of course Greyson grabbed the first 2 he saw & was ready to go! I managed to convince him to "hunt" for more just because he loves pumpkins.
And of course his sweet teacher took a picture of us to show off one of our pumpkins!

It was such a fun afternoon activity with him. I miss the days when we were home together all day & I could do things like this whenever we felt like. So I try as hard as I can to make it to anything he has going on so I don't miss out on fun stuff, since work & school keep pulling me in separate directions & keep me occupied so much.

So off to enjoy this Sunday Funday watching the Browns play & trying to work on a paper due later this week!

Halloween Countdown// Part 2

1:06 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

Finally part 2 of our Halloween/Fall countdown! With Halloween tomorrow, I figured I should probably share more! So here's what we've been up to the last couple of weeks!
Parent Day at school! The parents were invited to enjoy cookies & cider then there was a pumpkin "hunt" aka pumpkins scattered all over the playground, for the kids to gather! So fun!
We watched our friends little girl one Sunday afternoon & it was the perfect opportunity to paint the little pumpkins we got at the parent day. I set both the kids up with paints & a pumpkin & let their imaginations run! Always fun watching kids do crafts to see how they think about everything! It was such a fun activity for everyone!
And of course Halloween isn't complete without carving pumpkins! Greyson was so amazed by them & loved watching us carve them up. I even got him to "help" me carve a face in his little pumpkin! And he kept pointing out the pumpkin seeds every 15 seconds! He really liked it & I sort of wish we had more pumpkins to do it again!

We have a few more things to share in a few days & I look forward to a photo dump for you!

I too then, keep having an awesome days leading up to Halloween!

Halloween Countdown// Part 1

October is here! Man am I excited for fall & everything that it brings!
I love decorating & coming up with fun little things to do once the weather cools down. This week has been a busy one [as seems to be our new normal] so we haven't gotten a ton done in the first few days of the month.

Here is a little of what we've been up to bringing October in this year:
A little front porch décor & orange all throughout the house!

We also went to a pumpkin farm last weekend. So many pictures were taken that I just had to share more!

It's not much but it's been fun & pumpkin-filled!
We have some pumpkin carving, costume hunting & Boo at the Zoo-ing coming up this next week! Already excited!

21 weeks

10:22 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

Happy Friday! This week has flown by for sure, which is a little surprising following a long 3-4 day weekend! But with each Friday comes a new week of my pregnancy! Hard to believe we're over halfway to meeting our newest addition!
How far along: 18 weeks

Gender: 4 more days until we find out!!
Weight gain: Not sure but my guess is like 9 lbs? I'm sure that number will jump up with the season of Halloween candy, Thanksgiving dinners & holiday treats quickly approaching!
Maternity clothes: always! My goal is to finally get pants for work this weekend so I can stop wearing my regular ones with a belly band or yoga pants!
Stretch marks: Not yet! & hopefully none at all!
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: This cool weather is perfect for sleeping now! Not sleeping a ton, but man do I sleep hard when I do.
Best moment this week: My belly popped much more in the last day or so! It was still in the sort-of pregnant look but now it's out for good
Worst moment this week: Grad school work & long, busy days at work have made me crazy exhausted
Miss anything: A good strawberry margarita!
Movement: Yep! I notice it most at night when everything has calmed down from the day. It's such a good feeling!
Cravings: Apple cider & red grapes! Random things depending on the day
Queasy or sick: Not really any more!
Looking forward to: Finding out the sex reeeeally soon! So excited!

We are so close finally to our anatomy scan! It seems like it's taken forever to get here. My doctor schedules the scan for 18-22 weeks & they are always very busy so I wasn't able to get in for mine until 21.5 weeks! So much later than everyone, but there should be no questions if the little one is cooperative!
And since I have been crazy busy & haven't posted the last few weeks of bump pictures... here is 19 & 20 weeks!

I really do hope I can bring myself to manage my time better & get back to my regular posting!
Until then, I will continue to play catch up!

And with that, it's a cozy socks, sparkling grape juice & movie night here!

Pumpkin Patch 2015

3:16 PM Amanda Greathouse 0 Comments

We decided to finally head to a pumpkin farm over the weekend! I made some plans with our neighbor friends & their sweet little girl who Greyson loves & we set out! It didn't look the nicest from outside of it honestly, but the kids had fun getting to do everything!
Plus my lovely friend Brooke is a very good photographer & she captured some lovely pictures of Greyson & a few with me while we were there!

There was a big tin thing full of corn kernels for people to get in. Greyson was very unsure at first & kept telling me his feet were dirty. But once he realized he could mess with it like sand, he was throwing it around like it was a party!
And this thing! Oh man! It was this huge pillow bouncing thing. Tons of people were on it so of course the kids wanted to try but with adults & big kids jumping, it was very hard to stand. The little ones were pretty scared once we got up there. But I got cute hugging pictures out of it, so win!
And no trip to the pumpkin farm is complete without a few pumpkins and pictures picking them! The kids wondered around wanting to take every pumpkin home, but we ultimately settled on 2 [which I had to carry most of the way, no help from Greyson!]
It was a fun little day that ended up way hotter than we planned, based on how we dressed for the occasion! But nonetheless, a perfectly basic visit to a pumpkin farm to kick-off our fall activities. I reallllly hope I can step it back up this year & keep up with all of my fun plans. I have a compilation of fall décor & activities coming very soon... I hope!

Very excited this week has flown by & that the weekend is right around the corner again!
